04 Why we are allowed to use it
We process personal data on the following grounds, consistent with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:

06 International transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside India, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside India, we take reasonable steps to ensure it stays protected to a standard consistent with this policy and applicable Indian law, and we require our providers to safeguard it under contract. You can ask us for details of the safeguards in place.
07 How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, or as required by law. In general: enquiry correspondence is kept while there is a live conversation and for a reasonable period after; unsuccessful fellowship applications are kept for up to 12 months; client records are kept for the duration of the engagement and for up to 6 years afterwards to meet legal and accounting requirements. We then delete or anonymise the data.

10 Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we act promptly if we become aware of a problem.
11 Age & the fellowship
The fellowship is aimed at students and early-career applicants. If you are under 18, you should apply only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian, and we may ask for confirmation of that consent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
